Christy Knowings, the actor and comedian best known for her work on Nickelodeon’s sketch-comedy series All That, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026, at age 46 following a hospitalization in the Los Angeles area. Her death was announced by her aunt and has since been confirmed by her manager, Al Hill.
TMZ, citing an unnamed member of Knowings’ family, reported that she suffered an asthma attack on Friday, Aug. 7, was hospitalized and placed on life support.
The family member said the attack caused brain damage and that Knowings remained on life support until Tuesday, when her family decided to withdraw it. She died that night, according to the family account reported by TMZ.
The medical account has not been independently confirmed by a hospital or medical examiner. As of Aug. 14, no publicly released official determination of Knowings’ cause of death has been cited by the major outlets reporting the story.
The asthma attack and resulting brain injury should therefore be attributed to the family member who spoke with TMZ rather than treated as a formal medical finding.

Knowings’ aunt, Tyleah Joseph, announced her death on Facebook on Wednesday, Aug. 12, according to Variety and Deadline. Variety subsequently obtained confirmation from Knowings’ manager, Al Hill.
“Christy was a multi-talented lady,” Hill told Variety, describing her work across singing, acting and dancing and recalling her as professional and dedicated. The manager’s statement provides a separate confirmation of Knowings’ death beyond the initial family-sourced reports.
People reported on Aug. 13 that it had contacted Knowings’ representatives after TMZ first published details of her death. TMZ’s report was updated later that day after former All That cast member Kenan Thompson publicly responded to the news.

Thompson, who worked alongside Knowings during the original run of All That, posted a tribute on social media after her death became public. He said the news had “hit hard,” sent his condolences to Knowings’ family and remembered her as one of the funniest people he knew, according to People’s report on his tribute.
Fellow All That performer Josh Server also reacted to Thompson’s post, according to TV Insider’s coverage. The tributes underscore Knowings’ place among a group of young performers who became closely associated with Nickelodeon’s comedy programming during the 1990s.
Knowings Joined ‘All That’ During Its Original Nickelodeon Run
Knowings joined All That in 1997 after appearing in And Now This, a sketch-comedy project produced by Rosie O’Donnell. She spent three seasons as part of the main cast, performing a range of characters and appearing alongside actors including Thompson, Amanda Bynes, Kel Mitchell, Nick Cannon and Lori Beth Denberg.
One of her better-known recurring roles was Jessica in the “Whateverrr!!!” sketches with Bynes. TMZ also identified Penny Lane among her characters, while Variety reported that Knowings later returned to All That as a guest performer.
Her career extended beyond the Nickelodeon series. Knowings appeared in three episodes of Sesame Street with her twin brother, actor Chris Knowings, and later moved further into music. In 2020, she released the folk single “To the World.”
People also credits Knowings with an appearance in the 2009 film Mother and Child, as well as a writing credit on the film. Her Sesame Street appearances between 2009 and 2011 were among her most recent television credits.
