WATCH: Bipartisan Group of West Virginia Legislators Support LGBT Non-Discrimination

By Adam Polaski • January 27, 2016 • 2:11 pm

This week, a bipartisan array of state legislators in West Virginia are speaking out in favor of LGBT-inclusive non-discrimination protections in their state. In a new video from Fairness West Virginia, an impressive swath of legislators – including Senate Judiciary Chairman Charles S. Trump (R-Morgan), Senate Majority Leader Mitch Carmichael (R-Jackson), Sen. Jeffrey V. Kessler (D-Marshall), Del. Timothy Miley (D-Harrison), Del. Saira Blair (R-Berkley), Del. Michael Ilhe (R-Jackson), Del. Sean Hornbuckle (D-Cabell), Sen. Corey Palumbo (D-Kanawha), Sen. Tom Takubo (R-Kanawha), and Sen. Ron Miller (D-Greenbrier) – all call for fairness for ALL West Virginians.

The video was released the same week that a hearing is set on a bill designed to discriminate against LGBT people in West Virginia. The bill, H.B. 4012, will have a public hearing on Thursday, January 28 at 9:30am. The discriminatory bill must be rejected – and we’re glad to see so many elected officials, Republican and Democrat alike, taking a stand.
