In First Public Comments Since His Tweetstorm, President Trump Incomprehensibly Defends ProposalBy Adam Polaski • August 11, 2017 • 11:00 am

President Trump is digging in on his proposal to courageous transgender Americans from serving in the United States military – and just like his tweets from two two weeks ago, his defense is incomprehensible.
In his first public comments since his morning Twitter announcement, Trump said, “The transgender, the military’s working on it now. They’re doing the work. As you know, it’s been a very complicated issue for the military, it’s been a very confusing issue for the military, and I think I’m doing the military a great favor.” Watch:
Kicking brave service members out of the military isn’t doing a favor to anyone at all. It’s not a “great favor” to the U.S. military, now being forced to implement a policy they never asked for – a policy that contradicts months of Department of Defense research demonstrating that open service would have a positive impact on the military. It’s not a “great favor” to the transgender troops and their families who are now left in limbo, insulted by their Commander-in-Chief. And it’s not a “great favor” for the American people, who will bear the financial burden of implementing Trump’s plan – $960 MILLION dollars, according to a new report from The Palm Center.
To add insult to tremendous injury, President Trump said in his comments today, “I have great respect for [the transgender] community. I think I have great support – or, I’ve had great support, from that community. I got a lot of votes.”
What is respectful about effectively firing an estimated 15,000 people – people who are fully trained, who have served for years, and who have put their lives on the line to protect the United States?
What is respectful about brazen discrimination?
President Trump may be digging in – but Freedom for All Americans is digging in, too.
