FFAA Statement on Implementation of Transgender Military Ban

WASHINGTON – The Department of Defense announced guidelines this week to implement the proposed ban on transgender service members. Freedom for All Americans’ CEO, Masen Davis released the following statement in response:

“This announcement is an example of the discrimination transgender Americans face every day all across this country, at all levels of government, and in all communities. This is why the need for nationwide nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ people is so urgent.

“Anti-LGBTQ discrimination hurts all Americans. Sidelining 14,000 highly trained and skilled transgender service members comes with very real security and economic costs that bias against transgender people simply doesn’t justify.

“Transgender troops are patriots who have earned the support of every major military branch chief and a majority of the American public. Our country is stronger and safer when everyone is treated with dignity and respect. It’s time for Congress to end discrimination against LGBTQ Americans by updating federal law to expressly include LGBTQ nondiscrimination protections.”
