March 2, 2022 – Following last night’s State of the Union address, in which President Joe Biden urged Congress to pass the Equality Act, Conservatives Against Discrimination Leadership Council Co-Chairs Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Trey Grayson released the following statement:

“Every American should be treated with full dignity and respect, but today far too many of our LGBTQ family members, friends, colleagues and neighbors remain subject to discrimination in their daily lives. As co-chairs of the Conservatives Against Discrimination Leadership Council, we commend President Biden for using the full weight of his office to call for lawmakers to send the Equality Act to his desk for his signature,” said Leadership Council Co-Chairs Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Trey Grayson. “The Equality Act is pro-family, pro-business, and ensures that no one can be turned away from a homeless shelter, denied a meal at a food bank, or refused critical government services because of who they are. Americans from all walks of life, including faith leaders, conservatives, and job creators, support passage of a bipartisan nondiscrimination law. The United States Congress should heed the public’s call and advance this bill on a bipartisan basis to make certain that all Americans have the ability to live their lives free from discrimination.”
